How to Prepare Central Air Conditioner for Summer in Enterprise, NV; Clean AC Coils, Tune Up Maintenance & More

With the excruciatingly hot days that we experience in Las Vegas, the last thing that you want to happen the first time it hits this summer is an AC unit that isn’t working the way that it should. It is always best to get that system up and running long before you have to really rely on it to keep you cool. Hal Mechanical is here to talk about some things that you should be doing before it gets too hot to get your AC ready for the task at hand.

Change Air Conditioner Filters

Your air filters are one of the most important things you need to be aware of for your HVAC system. These little things are what give your heating and cooling system the air they need to work properly. You can purchase air filters that are disposable or you can buy reusable ones that require cleaning. No matter which way you decide to go, you need to stay on top of this to keep your unit running well. Before you turn your AC on this summer, make sure the filter is ready to go.

Clean AC Condenser Coils

The condenser unit on your central air conditioner is going to be the unit that is outdoors. If you don’t cover your outdoor unit during the winter, there will likely be debris that has accumulated in the grills. You need to remove the side and top panels of the unit so that you can properly clean the condenser coils and have an AC system that works well. Clogged coils will cause you big problems if it isn’t cleaned. When cleaning these coils, you need to do so with care so that you don’t end up bending any of them. If you are using water to do this, be careful not to damage the unit or electrocute yourself.

Check Refrigerant Coolant Lines

Coolant lines deliver the refrigerant that gives you that cool air you are looking for. These lines will be usually covered with some foam covering to keep them from losing any energy. If the covering on these lines is looking worse for wear, you need to replace it with new foam insulation sleeves.

Test Your Central AC System

Don’t wait until the outdoor temperature is at an all-time high before turning on your AC system. You want to know that your system is ready whenever the high temps hit. Turn on your system for 30 minutes or so to test it out and ensure its blowing out cold air from the vents.
