What Should I Keep My AC at in the Fall?
Living in Las Vegas, temperatures don’t always drop until later fall. This means you are still using your AC at the beginning of fall. When the temperatures do start dropping then it is a great time to change the temperature on your thermostat. You may not need it at the same temperature as you do in July and August. According to Energy Star, the best temperature to set your thermostat at during the fall season is somewhere between 70 and 78 degrees but it does depend greatly on the temperature outside. You may want to consider turning off your AC and opening some windows to get some fresh air. This will give your air conditioning a little break from working so hard over the summer.
Clean or Change Air Filters
It is a great idea before you start your furnace to add new air filters. The summer can bring a lot of dirt and dust in your house. So why not clean and get new air filters so that your furnace can start off without it feeling clogged with dirty air filters? This will also help your furnace run smoother and have fewer problems while working.
Clearance Around Condenser
Your outside unit, the condenser, is very important when it comes to running your AC. Over the summer weeds, bushes, and branches can start to overgrow around your condenser. You may also get dirt and leaves that get stuck underneath or by the condenser. You need to make sure that you clean it out and cut back branches and weeds. If your condenser gets too dirty or overgrown then it cannot do what it is meant to do. This could cause problems and keep your AC from working properly.
What Does a Furnace Tune-up Include?
It is a great idea to do a tune-up at least once a year, if not twice a year. During the fall is a great time to call a professional to come and tune up your AC. They will make sure everything is working properly and there are no problems such as leaking, mildew forming, loose parts, etc. from happening to your AC. They will also get your AC ready for winter. While they are there you can have a professional look at your furnace. Make sure that it is ready for winter and working properly.
