Clean & Check Air Filters
Even though we have been using the heating side of our HVAC systems the past few months, you should still be keeping an eye on your filter. Your air filter should be getting changed regularly to ensure your units are getting proper air flow. This is one of the top things you should be doing to extend the life of your HVAC system, and it is extremely easy to do. If you are using disposable air filters, you need to be changing them out every month to help your heating and air conditioning systems work as efficiently as possible. If it has been a while since you last checked it, it is probably time to replace it.
Find Air Leaks in Warehouse
If you have small gaps around your doors and windows, you can lose a lot of the air that you pay so much to keep warm or cool. Check for cracks around these areas and if it is clear that you have gaps, they need to be filled with caulking. Before applying the new caulking, you will need to peel off the old which isn’t a difficult task. You will find that this makes your home much more efficient, and you won’t be wasting that hard earned air.
Change Ceiling Fan Direction
Hopefully you have had your ceiling fans spinning in a clockwise direction this winter as this will help to move the warm air from your ceiling and push it down into the space. If you have, you will want to change those to a counterclockwise direction shortly. This will help keep your home significantly cooler on those hot summer days.
